The Challenge

The existing kitchen was quite small and outdated but the homeowner came in with a vision and ideas of what the layout would be and how the space would look.

The Solution

The wall that visually separated the adjacent room from the kitchen was knocked down creating one large kitchen space and sitting area.

The island was integrated with the main cooking area and was enlarged to allow for more prep surface. To add more visual interest, the cabinets on the island have a different finish.

To allow more natural light to enter the space, the window above the sink became bigger. While the French doors remain in the location, they were retouched so that they would match the other trimming found throughout the space.

To add a more modern touch to the space, the homeowner chose different shades of blue in different patterns as a high backsplash but also for the other walls in this area. This pop of colors and light fixtures makes this kitchen a delightful space to occupy!
