Richard Hendrick, CKD President, Designer

Richard has spent his entire career in the family business. He started as a carpenter’s helper while in high school and college, learning the construction side of the business. After earning a degree in business from JMU, he began working full-time in sales and design, as well as earning the distinction of Certified Kitchen Designer.

Kyle Hendrick Vice President, Designer

Kyle is a member of the third generation of the Hendrick family to join Custom Kitchens, Inc. He graduated from Trinity Episcopal School and earned a BBA in Marketing from Radford University in 2009. Kyle has learned the business from the ground up, working in the field and the front office before transitioning to design full-time in 2012.

Carter Hendrick Secretary, Designer

Another member of the Hendrick’s third generation, Carter worked in the field during high school and college, and moved to the front office after running his own business. Carter has been a designer for four years now. His on-the-job education and entrepreneurial spirit fostered an attention to detail and laser focus that serves his clients well.

Curtis Hendrick Vice President of Operations, Designer

Curtis, a proud graduate of JMU, completes the third generation of the Hendrick family working at Custom Kitchens. After five years of project management in engineering, Curtis first returned to Custom Kitchens as the installation manager and now as a designer.

Kimberly Carter Designer

After graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in interior design and an emphasis on kitchen and bath design, Kimberly has been with Custom Kitchens for over 20 years. Her flexibility and can-do attitude have made her a rock for the design team, while her enthusiasm makes her a joy to have remodel your home.

Allison Stowers, CKD Designer

Allison grew up in the kitchen & bath industry as well, her mother was a designer. A William & Mary grad who earned Certified Kitchen Designer, she has been a part of the industry for over 25 years. Also serving previously as showroom manager, Allison has been with Custom Kitchens since 2005 when she moved to the area.

Laura Lyles Project Manager & Designer

Laura keeps our designers on track! Working closely with Kyle, Laura performs unseen tasks necessary to maintain a job’s efficiency. Either in the office or in the field, Laura’s ever-present smile and eye for detail make her an easy favorite at CKI.

Angie Thomson Product Specialist & Design Assistant

Angie has a master’s in Interior Environments from VCU and is instrumental in the running of the showroom! She assists designers throughout the entire design process, as well as maintaining the showroom displays and products.

Jennifer Strader Client Care & Showroom Manager

Jennifer takes excellent care of our clients the moment they step in to Custom Kitchens. She serves as a guide, introducing the CKI process. She keeps the whole building in check, and her impeccable sense of style ensures she looks good doing it!

Kim Hatton Accounts Manager

Kim keeps our books on track. She’s responsible for the smooth running of anything related to numbers. Kim is the kind of person who actually enjoys tasks like job costing!

Mark Christian Installation Coordinator

Mark came to CKI in 2023, and manages all of our clients’ service requirements and job scheduling. A VMI grad, Mark previously managed a small farm and oyster processing plant!

Robert Jensen Shop Manager

A true master carpenter, Robert runs the workshop behind the CKI Showroom. He freely shares his knowledge and expertise with the team, and has made incredible pieces of cabinetry!

William Meredith Cabinet Installer & Trim Carpenter

William has been with Custom Kitchens since 1994. Our clients are continually impressed with his skill, experience, and attention to detail. He approaches every job as if it were taking place in his own home.

James (JT) Hall Cabinet Installer

JT has been expertly installing cabinets and trim for over 30 years. He loves the personal interaction he has with clients in the field, and guaranteed if he’s working in your home, you’ll hear him whistle intricate melodies all day long!

Matt Sackett Cabinet Installer

Matt has been in the cabinet industry for over two decades, with fifteen years spent at Custom Kitchens. Matt loves bringing a project to life, from floor plans to installed cabinets.

Phil Holcombe Cabinet Installer

Phil is a textbook jack-of-all-trades. An excellent problem solver, Phil is known for making it work while regaling everyone with many tales from his past careers.

John Bonds Warehouse Delivery Driver

For around 30 years, John has made sure that fixtures, appliances, and cabinets are delivered on time to our client’s homes. A notoriously safe driver, John has driven every type of truck imaginable!

Tyler Owens Warehouse Delivery Driver

Tyler helps guarantee the safe delivery of cabinets and appliances while also serving as a backup installer. He has been a part of the Custom Kitchens family for several years now, and his dry humor keeps everyone on their toes!

Jared Couch Installation Assistant

Our newest member of the team, Jared is a quick study and eager to learn whatever he can in the renovation world! His own creativity and attention to detail have helped him get his footing with the installation crew.

David Hendrick, CKD Retired

Brothers with Richard, David worked the family business for forty-odd years. Serving as Vice President and a Designer, David is an integral part of the Custom Kitchens culture.

Doug Leake, CKD Retired

Doug worked with Custom Kitchens for just under 40 years as an award winning designer. Occasionally, Doug will assist Allison with project management for her jobs although he is officially retired.

Bobby Hollins Retired

Bobby has 50 years of carpentry experience, and was a master carpenter and installer during his tenure with CKI. Despite his retirement, you can still find Bobby helping out with a job or in the shop every now and then!

Ronnie Harlow Retired

Ronnie installed kitchens with us for several years, and had 30 years of experience in the construction industry. His sense of humor and knowledge made him essential to the team!
