Richard Hendrick, CKD
Owner Kitchen & Bath Designer
Richard has spent his entire career in the family business. He started as a carpenter’s helper while in high school and college to learn the construction side of the business. After earning a business degree from JMU, he began working full-time in sales and design, earning the distinction of Certified Kitchen Designer.
Kyle Hendrick
Vice President Kitchen & Bathroom Designer
Kyle is the third generation of the Hendrick family to join Custom Kitchens, Inc. He graduated from Trinity Epicopal School in 2005 and earned a BBA in Marketing from Radford University in 2009. Kyle has learned the business from the ground up, initially working as a carpenter’s helper and office assistant before moving to full-time designer in 2012.
Allison B. Stowers, CKD
Kitchen & Bathroom Designer
Allison is a Certified Kitchen Designer, who has been a part of the kitchen and bath industry for over 20 years. She joined the Custom Kitchens family in 2005 when she moved to the Richmond area.
Kimberly Carter
Kitchen & Bathroom Designer
Kimberly has a degree in interior design with an emphasis in kitchen and bath design from Virginia Tech. She has been designing kitchens and bathrooms for Custom Kitchens for over 15 years.
Carter Hendrick
Secretary Kitchen & Bathroom Designer
After working in the field in high school and spending a few years working in the front office, Carter has officially moved to sales and design after getting as much first hand knowledge as possible! He’s happy to be working with his brothers as the third generation of Hendricks to helm Custom Kitchens.
Curtis Hendrick
Vice President of Operations Kitchen & Bathroom Designer
Curtis, a proud graduate of JMU, is the third generation of the Hendrick family to work for Custom Kitchens, Inc. After five years in project management, Curtis returned to CKI as installation manager and now as a designer.
His background in project management and engineering, supports every part of designing a kitchen or bathroom, from the beginning to the end! Curtis enjoys being outside with his wife and their dachshund, Sunshine, while he's not working.
Laura Lyles
Project Manager & Designer
Laura works closely with Kyle to make sure he stays on track. She is in charge of the minute, backstage tasks necessary to maintain a job's efficiency. She is incredibly helpful to all of Custom Kitchens and has a fantastic sense of design.
She enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her fiancé, Robin, and Puggle Finn when she is not working.
Angie Thomson Product Specialist & Design Assistant
Angie graduated from the University of Mary Washington with a BFA in Art History and VCU with a Master’s degree in Interior environments. Using her knowledge of design, she quickly moved up the ranks from showroom assistant to product specialist. As the product specialist, Angie works on making sure that our products and displays are up to date. She also assists the designers throughout the process of a project.
Angie aims to travel around the world and with a different destination each year, she is sure to accomplish her goal!
Mark Christian Installation Coordinator
Mark began working with us in 2023. He manages all of our clients' service requirements and ensures that the projects are completed on time. He is essential to the efficient operation of CKI because of his excellent project management abilities and amiable disposition. Longtime Richmond resident and VMI graduate Mark joined us after managing a small farm for several years and constructing and running an oyster product processing plant.
Mark loves being outside, whether it's barbecuing, hunting, or fishing on his family's farm.
Kim Hatton
Accounts Manager
Kim keeps our books on track. She is the kind of person who actually enjoys tasks like job costing!
When she’s not keeping our numbers straight, you’ll find her hanging out with her grandson, Liam, or finishing up projects around her house.
Jennifer Strader Client Care & Showroom Manager
Jennifer will be your guide, giving you background and information on the CKI process. She also supports the designers with hand-drawn concepts and pricing jobs.
Jennifer loves being creative in her home studio and spending time with her family and pets. She finds traveling the world most rewarding.
Robert Jensen
Shop Manager
In every aspect, Robert is a superb cabinetmaker. By educating everyone at CKI in the finer points of woodworking, he generously shares his skills and expertise. Outside of his CKI shop, which is his sacred place, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and being outside.
James (J.T.) Hall
Cabinet Installer
James has been expertly installing cabinets and trim for 30 years. He loves the crisp, clean lines of a finished job and the personal interaction he gets to have with our clients. Outside of work he plays and sings in his church’s praise band and choir and is the frontman of a local band.
William Meredith
Cabinet Installer and Trim Carpenter
In 1994, William started working at Custom Kitchens. Our clientele have given him excellent ratings because of his experience, skill, and attention to detail. He takes care in his work and approaches every project as though he were remodeling his own house.
He enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Matt Sackett
Cabinet Installer
Matt has been in the cabinet industry for nearly two decades, and he’s spent over a decade of that time with us. Matt loves seeing a project go from plans to a finished design and playing an integral role in that process.
Phil Holcombe Cabinet Installer
Phil has been a fun addition to our team. He is a jack of all trades and we enjoy listening to the stories from his previous occupations. Currently, as a cabinet installer, Phil “makes it work,” as he is great at problem solving and guaranteeing that the design come to life for full client satisfaction. Phil enjoys spending time with his family and his dogs, Bert and Ernie.
John Bonds Warehouse Delivery Driver
For more than 25 years, John has made sure that fixtures, appliances, and cabinets are delivered to our clients' houses on schedule and in excellent shape. His driving prowess has earned him multiple safety honors, and he has driven every type of truck. John frequents a lot of the WaWas in the area keeping them in the coffee business.
Tyler Owens Warehouse Delivery Driver
Tyler helps guarantee the safe delivery of cabinets and appliances while also serving as backup for the cabinet installers. He has been a member of our team for a little over a year and we enjoy having him around. Outside of work, you can find Tyler riding rollercoasters, listening to records, hiking, and enjoying time with his cats!
Jared Couch Installation Assistant
Our newest member of the CKI team is Jared. He is always eager to learn something new and has an eye for detail and seeing the full process of how a project or design comes together. Jared has shown himself to be a quick study.
Outside of work, he enjoys keeping his creativity flowing whether that be through drawing, writing or designing. He likes to keep active by running, rock climbing and other sports. He loves spending time with his family and dog Juliet.
David Hendrick, CKD
Retired Kitchen & Bath Designer
David worked in the family business beginning in high school, and the forty-odd years after that!
We're lucky to have had him for so long, and even more lucky that he’ll be around to help us when we need it!
Bobby Hollins
Retired, Cabinet Installer
Bobby’s history with cabinets goes back 50 years, but he’s been with us for 15. Despite being “retired” you can find Bobby lending a hand with us a few days a week.
We’re happy to see him as often as we do!
Douglas Leake, CKD
Retired Kitchen & Bath Designer
Doug has been in the design business with us since 1986.

Ronnie Harlow
Retired Cabinet Installer
Ronnie installed kitchens with us for a little over two years. Ronnie has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry. Before Custom Kitchens, he ran his own flooring company in Richmond.
