The Challenge

This home was built in the late 90’s, and the homeowners have lived there ever since. After just over fifteen years, the homeowner decided it was time to improve the space and bring more modern features into the space.

The Solution

While the footprint of the kitchen remained the same, every aspect of this space was improved. The new cabinets in a modern shaker door carry to the ceiling, adding more storage space. The warm cherry cabinetry on the island blends well with the flooring, which was refinished during the renovation. By updating the appliances, the need for a dedicated toaster oven and microwave was eliminated- they were replaced with a double oven-microwave combination. The former white fridge was swapped with a larger counter depth stainless steel model.

The marble backsplash tile adds warmth and variation with the soft white quartz countertops. Carrying the tile up the wall in between the cabinets was a thoughtful suggestion made by the designer, Carter, to help connect the space in between the wall cabinets. The upper glass door cabinets include lighting to highlight the displayed décor.

By eliminating the builder-grade pantry with wire shelves, the designer created a dry bar to display the homeowner’s extensive bourbon collection. The cherry is repeated from the island and combined with the backsplash, ties the space together.
