The Challenge

While the surrounding rooms have beautiful views of the James, the kitchen felt cramped with a limited footprint. Storage space was limited, and the kitchen felt disconnected from the rest of the home.

The Solution

This kitchen went through a minor addition along the range wall to improve traffic flow. Heart pine was introduced in creative ways throughout the entire space, including a salvaged door that adds decorative interest while still shielding the interior of the pantry.

The new kitchen is cat approved- and he even matches the heart pine!

In the new space, a designated bar area was added. The beautiful backsplash makes this space feel more connected to the outside environment, while the scalloped edge adds visual interest and echoes the mullions. Beyond the bar, you can also see the heart pine that the kitchen drew inspiration from, in the exposed beams and trim surrounding the floor to ceiling windows.

The double sinks in the kitchen add convenience, while also creating multiple zones throughout the space.

The pine trim along the hood echoes the warm tones through the range backsplash.

The new kitchen feels luxurious, just like the view off the back porch!
