The Challenge

This recently acquired home was in great need of a remodel, especially when it came to the primary bathroom. There were several aspects of the existing space that the new owners felt did not fit their needs, but with high ceilings and large windows the potential was there.

The carpet, linoleum, and stepped jacuzzi tub all needed to go! The linen closet behind the door was hard to access because of all of the different doorways.

The Solution

A new marbled hexagonal tile was installed in place of the dated carpet and linoleum. Rather than keep the linen closet, the homeowner’s designer, Carter, suggested open shelving that matched the vanity. He also suggested switching the door swing of the entry door, which ensures the door doesn’t block the shelving. This made towels and toiletries easy to access during bath time for their kids! With a hamper below the shelves, this new take on the linen closet is much more functional.

Replacing the built-in tub with a free-standing one was the safer option, but also provided a cleaner look. The cramped shower stall was replaced with a spacious shower with multiple heads.

The natural walnut cabinets and shelves give this bathroom a warm, cozy, and inviting atmosphere. Although a bit hesitant about the overall dark palette of the cabinet finishes and the floor tile, the clients were immensely happy with the transformation.
