PRO Awards 2023
Custom Kitchens was the recipient of a PRO Award this year. PRO (Professional Remodeling Organization) awards are given to members dedicated to carrying out the remodeling process with the highest regard for integrity and quality, committed to the industry, and improving his or her skills. Custom Kitchens designers received the following:
Kyle Hendrick, Grand Winner - “Residential Historical Renovation/Restoration”
Assembled in the late 1700s, this house had been overtaken by weeds since the last owners left. The current owners have been in the process of renovating it for a few years now. With the location of the original kitchen being hard to pin down, the owners decided to build their dream kitchen in a recently renovated wing of the house.
The owners were inspired by a project they came across in a magazine. This kitchen was going to have bright and happy cabinetry from the get-go!
Melissa Utt Heatley, Grand Winner - “Residential Bath Over $100,000”
The existing bathroom felt “heavy and dungeon like” and the homeowners wanted to create a more open, brighter, and safer space . They also wanted their primary bathroom to feel timeless, classic, as if it was original to the house, and on par style and material wise with the rest of this high end custom home.
Richard Hendrick, Grand Winner - “Residential Interior Under $100,000”
This architectural wonder, once owned by the Garden Club, was re-purposed and transformed into a great home. After a bad storm led to a fallen tree branch on this historic home, the clients decided this was the good time to rethink the original plan. Initially used as a guest suite, the space was reworked and enlarged. When it is not used as a wedding reception venue, it functions as an entertainment and family area.
Melissa Utt Heatley, Grand Winner - “Residential Bath Under $50,000”
After a kitchen remodel, these homeowners decided that their bathrooms needed upgrading as well. This specific bathroom was designed with aging in place in mind. It is also meant to be “his” bathroom with a “hers” bathroom in a different area of the house.
Carter Hendrick, Merit - ““Residential Bath Under $50,000 - $100,000”
This recently acquired home was in great need of a remodel, especially when it came to the primary bathroom. There were several aspects of the existing space that the new owners felt did not fit their needs. The clients and designer soon realized that there was great potential for this bathroom with high ceilings and large windows, with these new ideas, the remodeling process soon began.
Allison Stowers, Merit - “Residential Kitchen Under $75,000”
Although the layout of the kitchen remained the same, the homeowners wanted to give their kitchen a fresh look. As a part of the remodel, several elements of the new kitchen were updated, and additions that facilitate everyday cooking were incorporated into the new design.
