Crystal Cabinet Works 2021 Design Awards

Custom Kitchens was honored to have two of their designers win Crystal Choice Awards for their recent projects featuring Crystal cabinetry. This was a nationwide awards contest, with only 18 winners overall and two and three other winning projects in their categories respectively. Head to our Recent Work tab to see more about these projects in detail, and check out a brief description below!

Melissa Utt Heatley, Frameless Current Other Category

Crystal Choice Winner

Custom Kitchens has had a long standing relationship with Crystal Cabinet Works, and we have been selling their Made-in-America cabinets for over 15 years. A family owned company founded ten years before Custom Kitchens, our similar values and their high quality product have made for a seamless relationship. When they introduced a price-competitive line called Crystal Current several years ago, our designers fell in love with the high quality yet budget friendly cabinets.

Melissa used Crystal’s Frameless Current line in a master retreat for young parents reclaiming their bathroom. They wanted an oasis to retreat to, and now that their kids were no longer taking baths in the early 00’s-esque tub that blocked their original bathroom, they knew it was time for an update. The rustic hickory cabinets and matching mirrors warm up the clean and neutral space, and the hidden organization make this space all the better.

Kyle Hendrick, Current Kitchen Category,

Crystal Choice Winner

Cole Kitchen 3.jpg

Kyle was able to fit big style in a small space for this chef’s kitchen. By transforming immovable architectural features into focal points, the white high gloss cabinets in this space make it feel open and expansive, despite the small square footage. This kitchen adds a modern spin on this traditional Fan row home.

Congratulations Melissa and Kyle! We know how much time and effort went into making these projects beautiful, and we couldn’t be more proud.

CotY 2020 Awards

Custom Kitchens was the recipient of two CotY awards this year. CotY (Contractor of the Year) awards are given to NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry) members who have demonstrated outstanding work in their remodeling projects. Custom Kitchens designers received the following:

Allison Stowers, Grand Prize “Bath Over $50,000”

While on a European vacation, a major pipe burst in the second story of the home of these empty nesters. The flooding was so serious that water began to flow down their driveway, alerting a neighbor that something had happened, who then contacted the homeowners. Rather than despair, the homeowners saw the perfect opportunity to create the bathroom of their dreams. Their travel experience has led them to an appreciation for sleek European design, and they strived to emulate that European hotel feeling in their own home.

Allison was able to bring the ideas of these empty nesters to life. With the modern design and aging-in-place amenities, this bathroom increases the usability and comfort of this space.

Melissa Utt Heatley, Grand Prize “Kitchen Under 100,000”

A young family of four lives in this 1940’s bungalow with much of its original charm. With two preteen children, this couple could no longer make the funky layout of their kitchen work for their bustling family. They aspired to maintain the architectural integrity of the home, along with the whimsy of the design, while also creating a fully functioning, multipurpose space.

Melissa’s attention to detail and thoughtful rework of this space kept the homes footprint roughly the same, but created better flow and increased work space.
